Because tumblr keeps fucking shit up.

redribbbon: Sometimes it’s not just perseverance or intelligence that lifts you out of the dregs, but luck in the form of a caring dedicated outsider. Had these children not been exposed to photography, had not been given cameras, they’d be wasting away in the slums. Who would have thought that Avijit was a genius, had not some intrepid photographer given him a camera?
bjorn_248: A hard but true examination of the brothels in calcutta, it was nice to see something positive come out of such a negative atmosphere. Also, Avijit is a true artist if there ever was one.
Leftmost: The worst thing about this film is the people who refuse to allow the children the means to leave the brothel; the best is those who refuse to be prevented.
RifleEyes: An interesting look at the lives of these children. Really just made me realise how kids are still kids no matter what kind of conditions they live in. Kind of weird thinking about how their lives are so different that their parents think it’s a good thing to keep them out of school.
BallzDEEP77: I’m not usually intrested in these type of documentarys that act more as an advertisement to try to get western viewers to give to those less fortunate in other parts of the world, as insensitive as that may sound. However this film was a little different, as it focused more on the personalities of these kids, and how they are no different than the kids living in america. I also appreciate photography a little more after watching this. Also, Aviijit is a baller.
camdo2: Great film, very eye opening

redribbbon: Why would some suffer through Manic Depression, an extrememly dangerous condition, just to enhance their creativity and gain celebrity status? Though, treatment seems to be at best hit and miss, so are the manic depresssive left to just force themselves to remain well? It seems like a lifetime of suffering, though perhaps some, like Stephen Fry, can harness it to their benefit.
bjorn_248: A brave examination of manic depression by someone affected by the disease. Definitely brought some things to light, but much remains to be discovered. This documentary doesn’t leave you feeling better or worse, just in the middle.
Bravado: Useful to know how other people think - and why they do it in often imcomprehensible ways.
RifleEyes: I suppose this documentary would have been a bit more interesting had I not already had a somewhat intimate relationship with bipolar disorder. At the very least, it provided insight into the people who tend to get manias who I would have otherwised considered to simply be crazy.
